Advanced Pediatric Ultrasound

Targeted, highly accurate imaging tailored to your child's symptoms and physical condition.
필요한 부위만 정밀하게 확인합니다.

isn't just a rush to diagnose or treat;
it is a safe, careful process used
to evaluate the structure and condition of internal organs
based on your child's specific symptoms and clinical findings.
It is completely radiation-free. Depending on your child's age and symptoms,
we selectively image only the necessary areas.

Our Approach to Pediatric Ultrasound
- We prioritize clinical symptoms

  • and physical examination findings.
  • We never perform unnecessary tests.
  • We interpret results comprehensively, alongside clinical observations.

Diagnostic Workflow

Here is how we evaluate your baby's condition:

STEP 01. Determining the Need for an Ultrasound

We first decide if a precision ultrasound is truly necessary by reviewing your child's medical history, current symptoms,
and physical exam results.

If an ultrasound is not needed:

→ We will monitor their progress.

If internal evaluation is needed:

→ Proceed with a targeted precision ultrasound.

STEP 02. Targeted Precision Ultrasound

Based on your child's age and symptoms,
we perform only the specific exams necessary from the options below.

Abdominal Ultrasound

Evaluates the structure and condition of abdominal organs, including the liver, gallbladder, kidneys,
and spleen.

  • ㆍRecurrent abdominal pain, bloating, or vomiting
  • ㆍSuspected kidney/urinary tract infections or hydronephrosis
  • ㆍAbnormal findings in blood or urine tests
Hip Ultrasound

Checks the development of the hip joints in infants and toddlers,
helping to detect developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) early.

  • ㆍLeg length discrepancies or asymmetrical thigh/gluteal creases
  • ㆍSuspected hip instability
  • ㆍRoutine evaluations for newborns and infants
Sacral Dimple (Spinal) Ultrasound

Evaluates the lower spine for structural abnormalities
when a skin depression (sacral dimple) is present on the lower back.

  • ㆍDeep or abnormally positioned dimples
  • ㆍAccompanied by neurological symptoms
  • ㆍWhen further medical evaluation is deemed necessary
Ocular (Eye) Ultrasound

Safely examines the internal structure of the eye
when direct visualization is difficult.

  • ㆍSwelling or pain in the eye
  • ㆍNeed for internal examination following eye trauma
  • ㆍDifficulty observing the inside of the eye due to bleeding or severe swelling

Common Ultrasound Findings
Pediatric precision ultrasounds

help evaluate potential illnesses by clearly assessing internal structures based on presenting symptoms.
If necessary, and depending on your child's ability to cooperate,
our medical team may safely administer sedation
to ensure an accurate
and comfortable exam.

Abdominal
Ultrasound
  • Structural abnormalities in organs like the liver, gallbladder, and kidneys
  • Hydronephrosis or changes in kidney size
  • Underlying causes of abdominal pain or vomiting
  • Conditions requiring immediate intervention, such as intussusception
If intussusception is suspected, it can be rapidly identified via ultrasound, allowing our medical team to perform immediate treatment.
Hip
Ultrasound
  • Hip joint development
  • Signs of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH)
  • Asymmetry between the left and right hips
Sacral Dimple
Ultrasound
  • Suspected structural abnormalities in the lower spine
  • Differentiating between a simple skin dimple and true structural issues
  • Determining the need for further testing
Ocular
Ultrasound
  • Retinal or vitreous abnormalities
  • Internal eye bleeding
  • Suspected structural damage following trauma

Interpreting Test Results
Our neonatal jaundice assessment

Pediatric precision ultrasounds
are interpreted comprehensively
by looking at the full picture:
Note: Ultrasounds are primarily used to identify abnormalities and guide the next steps in care, rather than to make a definitive standalone diagnosis.

  • 1

The child's symptoms and physical exam findings

  • 2

    The ultrasound images themselves

  • 3

Normal developmental milestones for their age

  • 4

    Overall clinical progress

What Happens After the Test?

and clinical progress
to determine the best course of action.

If no abnormalities are found:
→ We will monitor their progress.

If further evaluation is needed:
→ We may recommend follow-up checks or additional testing.

If treatment is required:
→ We will thoroughly discuss the findings with you and establish a personalized treatment plan.

Good to Know

A Message
to Parents
  • A pediatric precision ultrasound is not judged on a single image. We always evaluate the findings alongside your child's actual symptoms and physical exam.
  • Depending on the results, your child may only need careful observation without further testing, or we may schedule a follow-up reassessment after a certain period.
  • Ultrasound is a gentle, minimally invasive procedure that is completely safe for your child, even if repeated tests are necessary.
  • Tuntun Children's Hospital does not believe in "testing for the sake of testing." We are committed to providing precise, necessary imaging to make the best decisions for your child's health.
